Praise
& Recognition - Part 2
Monthly Newsletter Every person
who wishes to grow a large and prosperous MLM business must do a monthly
newsletter, either by snail mail or email. Our first newsletter went out in
our first month when we had only five dealers. The highest income earner
said to do a newsletter, and we did it. It can be a one page letter with
highlights of accomplishments and new information. You don’t get paid to do
newsletters, so don’t spend hours typesetting and putting in lots of
graphics. Keep it simple. Remember there are only three purposes for a
newsletter:
-
Praise and Recognition for
Accomplishments, and for small groups, welcome of new representatives.
This should be the main focus of the newsletter. It is a fantastic feeling
to see your name in a publication, even a one page newsletter. Most people
never get to experience that.
-
Water Torture Prospects or
Inactive Dealers. You should have a list of people who have said, “Not
right now, maybe later” that you have asked permission to keep them posted
on your progress. These individuals go on your Water Torture list so they
are kept informed of your commitment and success. Every three to six months,
give them a call and chat. Eventually, they may say, “OK, I give up. How did
you make that much money last month?”
-
Promotion of Calls, Books,
Tapes, and New Ideas and Products. Most people think, “I don’t have any
new news so I guess I’ll skip the newsletter this month.” This is foolish.
You won’t have any news next month either if you don’t create some
excitement and momentum by promoting calls, products, books, tapes and new
information. This is what we do. We are promoters. We lead people to try new
ideas, to experience personal enrichment, empowering them to accomplish
their goals! This is what a newsletter should do.
Use your imagination and come
up with some achievable things that every worker in your organization could
accomplish with a little work. In other words, every person who achieves the
challenge wins. Avoid awards that are for the highest this or that. Again,
each MLM company is different, but I’ll list some things we have done that
motivate people.
-
Cash Money! Every person who
does a certain amount of volume, for a given period of time, award them with
CASH! It is so fun! It doesn’t have to be a fortune, but make a big deal
about the winners and awarding the money to them at meetings. People get
excited about $50.00! Once we offered $1,000.00 CASH to every team in our
group that achieved a certain rank by a given period of time. We awarded
three teams $1,000 in cash at a special meeting, and it was very exciting!
They also received a dozen red roses and tons of praise. They will be with
us for life.
-
Award top producers a
certificate each month at the big meeting, and are asked to do a brief talk
about what they are doing in their business to make things happen.
-
Do XXX amount of volume and win
a free fax machine!
-
In our company, dealers win a
free trip in only three months with a certain amount of consistent volume.
We make a huge deal about the trip and the honor of the accomplishment. It
is wise to use your contest and awards in conjunction with what your company
promotes.
-
Have awards for people who do 4
meetings or parties a month.
-
Have a club they can become a
part of if they do XXX amount of volume for three months. The Winner’s
Circle, The Freedom Club, or whatever might go with your company.
-
Have awards for high volume and
for high recruiting. Most times these are the same people. Again, don’t make
it an award that only one person can win, rather anyone who does XXX in
volume or X in sponsoring gets the award. That’s the one thing that bothers
me about the Olympics. Only one can get the gold. I think anybody who gets a
10 should get the gold! Don’t you?
Meetings or Parties This is when you want to give the
awards they have won, at the biggest meetings or get togethers you have.
Make it special. Have them speak for a moment, even if they are a bit
reluctant. It is great practice for doing meetings, and you want them to
become addicted to applause! If it is a big meeting, have them talk into the
microphone. It is exciting to hear your voice on the microphone for the
first time. At meetings you can share accomplishments of your super stars
and they love it.
Conference Calls Arrange for your
new and rising stars to be featured on a “National Conference Call.” This is
so exciting, and your rising star will have every person they know listening
in!
E-Mail These can be “quickies.” Something like: Susan
already has four parties booked this month, or Mike has sponsored another
future millionaire, or Jeff has a great idea about retailing...
Book and Tape Reviews Each month,
have a leader review a special tape or book and get them to write a review
to be published into your newsletter! You will encourage others to start
listening to tapes and reading books so they can do the review!
Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!
Every large event, make sure you have a camera, film, and extra batteries
for the flash - or digital camera if you have one. Top leaders and company
owners know that we need to have our picture with them to put on our goal
boards, so they are very tolerant of photo opportunities. Get your leaders
and take their pictures with the big guys and girls. When you get the
pictures developed, get doubles. Share pictures and let them know they are
loved and appreciated!
Personal Notes and Phone Calls In
this high tech world of e-mail, voice mail and faxes, people are truly
touched when we take the time to actually find a pen and write them a
personal note. It can be just a few lines but it really is special. The top
earner in our company has sent us many notes and they are in our company
photo album. They mean a lot to us and it makes us feel like we mean a lot
to him, too.
Lunch,
Dinner, or Time With Your Leaders Who do you want to give a
big boost to? Call them and ask them if you can treat them to lunch. It lets
people know you value them as a person and that you feel blessed that they
are on your team. This leads into the next chapter, which is Master Mind
Groups.
By being creative in ways to
praise your MLM team, you can not only grow your income, but develop forever
relationships that will stand the test of time.
